Alternatively, the position <span class='AOHittite'>taru(yali-)</text:span> does not refer to a bird flying, but to the location or direction where “it thundered”, thus: “<span class='del'>[</text:span>…<span class='del'>]</text:span> in the back, it thundered <span class='AOHittite'>taru(yali-)</text:span>” (thus also Sakuma Y. 2009b, II, 614: “Es donnerte wieder im <span class='AOHittite'>tar.-</text:span>(Bereich)”). Possibly, this event was considered significant for oracular purposes, thus the augur recorded it in his report (see <span class='AO--italic'>Introductio</text:span>). In the corpus of Hittite augury there are no other recorded instances of thunder.
