Version 8 is the only version of DAY 6 that describes in great detail the celebrations preceding the great assembly in the ḫalentu- complex. It recounts the king’s visit to various temples in Arinna, his journey to Ḫattuša, possibly including his meeting with the queen in Tatišga, and finally his walk or ride through Ḫattuša, during which he inspects numerous temples. Version 8 ends with the king entering the ḫalentu- complex, at which point the other versions continue the narrative.
The colophon of this version differs from those of the other DAY 6 manuscripts; for this reason, the group is treated as an independent version rather than as the first tablet of any known series.
