CTH 626.Tg30

Festival of Haste (nuntarriyašḫa-). Day 30

introductio

Short description

Although paragraphs describing DAY 30 of the nuntarriyašḫa- festival are preserved in five outline tablets, none of them is sufficiently well preserved to allow a secure reconstruction of the full sequence of events for that day. As in the case of several other days, some additional information can be gleaned from oracle texts and from KUB 25.27 (CTH 629).

The procession of the deity Zulumma, a great assembly in the ḫalentu- complex, and the celebrations of the Queen of the Storehouse by the tawal- makers of Ḫattuša can be identified with certainty. The remaining events probably included the queen’s table attendants celebrating NISABA in her temple, dignitaries celebrating Maliya, as well as activities involving the NIN.DINGIR priestess and a ḫapiya- man.

No day-tablets have so far been identified for DAY 30.

History of publication

In Nakamura M. 2002a: 126–128, DAY 30 is designated as day 26, without any proposed candidates for day-tablets.

Intertextuality

Apart from the great assembly and the celebrations by the NIN.DINGIR priestess, events corresponding to DAY 30 are attested in KUB 25.27 ii 26′–iii 8, which, as usual, adds additional information on the required offerings.

The oracle KBo 31.167+ ii F3 obv. iii 20–24 (CTH 568; with the parallel VSNF 12.27 obv. iii 7–10) deals – analogously to DAY 29 – exclusively with the celebrations conducted in the temple of NISABA by the table attendants.
