CTH 626.Tg24.ND.1

Festival of Haste (nuntarriyašḫa-). Day 24. Activities of the NIN.DINGIR Priestess

introductio

Kurzbeschreibung

Version 1 is attested in a single manuscript, KBo 47.259. The attribution of this text to the nuntarriyašḫa- festival appears likely. Its colophon mentions a return from Ḫattuša; the ḫešta- house; likely the temple of Kataḫḫa and the expression ḫūlali ḫulaliyazzi “spins (wool) on a distaff.” With the exclusion of the ḫešta- house, all these elements are found in the description of DAY 24 in the outline tablets of CTH 626.

Tablet characteristics

KBo 47.259 was originally a three-column tablet, of which portions of obv. i and rev. vi are preserved.

Palaeography and handwriting

Ms. A shows several sign forms that suggest an earlier stage of Hittite cuneiform than the New Script: the older form of LI; URU with horizontals of equal length and lowered first vertical (characteristic of the Old Script); and ID with the indented upper horizontal.
