Basis of the edition
The present edition is based on the photographs available at the Mainzer Photoarchiv of the Hethitologie Portal Mainz, as well as the available hand-copies and relevant secondary literature up to 2019. When the original manuscripts have been collated, this is noted in the commentary.
This fragment contains lists of offerings pertaining to several festivals (mostly month festival and daily bread) for a number of different deities, perhaps of one single town.
Palaeography and orthography: Both variants of LI are used (e.g. iv 6 vs. iv 8).
iii 9: This deity seems to be attested only here and in KUB 55 1 l. e. 1 ([ … ]-ḫu-nu-i-li), see van Gessel 1998: 361.
iv 6: For other cases of double pithoi, for grain (or wheat) and for wine, see commentary on KBo 49.310 rev. 6′.
iv 8: Cf. iii 7; but perhaps LÚ.MEŠUBARU “foreigners” is meant here (so Steitler 2019b: 134 fn. 63). The character of the professional title LÚGAD.TAR, attested in Hittite texts only, still escapes our understanding, see Steitler 2019b: 133-34 with further literature.
iv 9-10: The sense seems to be that previously, enough people were available for assuring the celebration of the autumn and spring festivals (appan eš-/aš- “to be left over”), but now the festivals are not celebrated any more: “they were in place, they are not (any more) in place.” I am grateful to Ilya Yakubovich for discussion of this passage.
