Kurzbeschreibung |
Outline.13 offers new information on the nuntarriyašḫa- festival, as it contains previously unknown days of the observance “inserted” directly after the day of the Road to Nerik (DAY 16 in the ‘united’ version). These ‘new’ days provide evidence that the festival included a multi-day journey of the divine hunting bag, previously thought to have taken place only during the AN.DAḪ.ŠUM festival.

Tablet characteristics |
The indications of obverse and reverse in the hand copy of Outline.13 should be reversed. What remains of the tablet are portions of col. ii on the obverse and col. iii on the reverse (“Rs.?” and “Vs.?” respectively in the hand copy). Note also that the hand copy omits certain signs visible on the 3D scan (see the Konkordanz), particularly on the right edge of the tablet.

Text transmission |
Outline.13 is the only outline tablet of the nuntarriyašḫa- festival discovered on Büyükkaya.
Palaeography and handwriting |
The tablet surface is badly abraded, which prevents the identification of any scribal peculiarities in the handwriting. For dating purposes, however, the recognizable general shape of the signs is sufficient; one can state with relative certainty that the tablet was written in the New Script.

General information |
Outline.13 describes celebrations that correspond to DAY 16–19 of the ‘united’ version on the obverse, and to DAY 29–30 on the reverse. Because the ends of the lines are for the most part broken off or worn away, the day numbers assigned in this recension cannot be securely determined. If the reading in rev.! 9′ as [UD 1]4?KA[M] is correct, then the first day of Outline.13 cannot be much earlier than the day of the Road to Nerik (DAY 16), and may even be identical to it. However, the damaged sign could also be read as 24 or even 34.
The new information supplied by Outline.13 concerns the journey of the divine hunting bag from Tawiniya through Ḫiyašna to Ḫattuša, as well as celebrations of the festival of the month performed by the king.
