CTH 536.6

Fragmentary Hittite terrestrial omens

introductio

Short description

CTH 536.6/KUB 43.7 is a small fragment with terrestrial omens.

Texts

Manuscript AKUB 43.17Bo 1551Ḫattuša

General information

CTH 536.6/KUB 43.7 is a small piece (36 wholly preserved signs) from the top of a right column, perhaps in Middle Script (the only diagnostic is old GAD, 2x). It was published by K.K. Riemschneider in KUB 43 and has remained unedited so far.

Judging from the few words that are preserved (especially kattan šarā, which otherwise does not appear in omen texts), it likely continued the man-falling-out-of-bed-omens of CTH 536.4 after §8′, with perhaps one or two omens in between. The script seems to differ from the other witnesses of CTH 536.4, especially from B, which preserves the bed omens.
