Bird oracle fragment from combined oracle

introductio

Short description

Small fragment with four lines of text partially preserved. The surviving portion includes part of the oracular question with the formula “let the birds confirm it” and part of the report on the birds’ flight.

The content of the first sentence suggests that this fragment belongs to a combined oracle. In fact, the formulation IŠTU … “By/through (the augur; the diviner; the ‘Old Woman’)” typically follows other observations, carried out through a different type of oracle.
