Kurzbeschreibung |
|
This small fragment from a bird oracle report is of some interest for the mention of the toponym Tanizila, appearing in this and three other oracle reports. Tanizila was probably located in north-central Anatolia, as the other oracles pertain to military campaigns against the Kaška tribes. For a discussion and further references, see Mouton A. 2012 “Tanizila” RlA 13-5/6, 442 (text erroneously cited as KBo 41.26).

Although this fragment is catalogued as NS (jh.) on HPM, it might be earlier. Although the size of the fragment does not allow for reliable palaeographic dating, none of the diagnostic signs exhibit clearly late forms (especially ḪAR, but also AL, TA, IT).
