Introduction | Lemma Lists | CTH Text Groups | Abbreviations (Morphological Glossing)

Introduction

The glossaries cover all texts of the HFR base corpus with pre-validated annotation (see Annotation). Texts whose annotation has not yet been pre-validated are not included in the glossaries for the time being. However, the entire annotation is accessible by mouseover or interlinear glossing (gray glossing: not validated; magenta glossing: pre-validated). Words that are partially or completely reconstructed are also included in the glossary.

Glossaries can be accessed in different ways: (1) By clicking on annotated words in the transliterations of the base corpus. (2) Via lemma lists in classical glossary structure. (3) Via word lists filtered by CTH group.

The lemma lists are organized in the usual way: Phonetically written words in the different languages, heterographically written words (Sumerograms, Akkadograms), proper nouns of different types, and numerals. In the respective lemma lists, the nominal form (in bold) and the meaning (generic meanings in round brackets, if applicable) of the respective word are listed. The lemma lists are sorted according to the Latin alphabet. Alternatively, glossaries for individual CTH text groups can be displayed. In these glossaries, all lemmas attested in the manuscripts of a particular CTH number are displayed, and additionally provided with information about their frequency of attestation.

Clicking on a nominal form in the lemma lists leads to a table with the attested spellings (middle column), the analysis (left column) and the count of the spellings of a lemma (right column). A click on the spelling leads to the HFR search, in which this spelling is already in the field ‘search expression’, which can then be searched with or without further constraints in the HFR base corpus. In this way, one can also find the counts in those texts whose annotation has not yet been pre-validated. A click on the document number leads to a sortable table listing the individual documents, the CTH number, the publication or inventory number, and the line specification. The line specification is also a link that takes you directly to the referenced line of text in the base corpus.

From the transliterations of the base corpus, the glossaries can be accessed specifically. All words with pre-validated annotation can be clicked. The click opens a window containing the following information:
1) the nominal form, 2) the meaning, 3) a link to the overall entry in the glossary, and 4) a link to the HFR search for the particular spelling.
